Shropshire Art Society Summer Exhibition 2014

The Shropshire Art Society’s Summer Exhibition is again being staged in St. Mary’s Church, Shrewsbury.

It was opened at a Special Preview for members and friends on the afternoon of Saturday 21st June by our guest Beverley Baker, the Mayor of Shrewsbury. Speaking before declaring the Exhibition formally open, the Mayor complimented the Society’s members on the quality and range of their work and commented on how the medieval building, a work of art in itself, provided such a splendid setting for the Exhibition. She also spoke of the value of creative activity for the individual and the community and of how she as Mayor intended to give this her full support. In the course of the ceremony, a presentation was also made to member, Mary Shirra, this year’s winner of the Judy Townsend Memorial Prize. Congratulations Mary!

The People’s Prize of £50 will be awarded following the exhibition on the basis of votes cast by the viewing public. Come and visit the exhibition, support the work of Shropshire artists, and cast your vote. Have your say on what makes great art. Paintings and cards are for sale.

The Exhibition continues until 1 pm on Saturday 12th July inclusive, 10am to 5pm each day, but closing at 1pm on the final Saturday. It is not open on Sundays. We look forward to welcoming you!
