Wednesday Classes normally take place from September to March. Experienced tutors are engaged for a series of three Wednesday Classes and teach on a variety of topics; in the 2024/25 season, the classes were £45 for each series. The classes provide a great opportunity for our artists to learn new techniques, push their boundaries into different subjects or media, and be inspired by excellent tutors and their peers. In the 2024/25 season our members received tuition from Lynne Morgan, Bob Spendlove, Wilf Langford, and Rob Leckey.

Saturday Workshops

Saturday Workshops normally take place once a month from September to March/April and involve working together (either at Upton Magna Village Hall or at home if you wish) around a theme, largely self-helping each other, exploring the work of artists, and taking inspiration from them for your paintings. The Saturday Workshops offer the chance to work inspired by ‘the style of’ a well-known artist or in a particular genre, in order to infuse our work with fresh elements; the workshops are challenging, exciting and fun.

The 2024/25 programme (£30, but now concluded) to give you a flavour:

Our Print Club is a brilliant opportunity to meet and share inspiration with other members on their print making journey, ranging from absolute beginners through to seasoned veterans. We are a group of friendly and supportive people very willing to share our experience and tips to help you produce lovely prints. Print Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month in the day unit at Severn Hospice, Bicton Heath. We have a small stock of Linocut tools and materials so you can “try out” before investing in your own. Our space is situated immediately adjacent to Café Refresh at the Hospice with its excellent local reputation for its food, drinks and service.

Your first session will be free and then if you decided that you like us, the subscription is £7 per session (paid in six-month blocks).

Workshops and classes are announced via our Focal Points Newsletter. Members are advised to respond early as the classes and workshops tend to be very popular and are often over-subscribed.
