Saturday Workshops

The Saturday Workshops are held at Upton Magna Village Hall – this is located in the village opposite the Church. You can also take part via email if you prefer.

Saturday Workshops involve working together around a theme, largely self-helping each other, exploring the work of artists, and taking inspiration from them for your paintings. For each Workshop you will receive by email (the week before each date below) instructions, links and inspirations to help you make an artwork on the given theme. Please indicate on your booking form if you need to receive these instructions by post. For those attending in person, each Saturday Workshop will begin with an introduction by Lynne to help inspire you on the day.

You will create your artwork either at Upton Magna Village Hall on the Saturday from 10am to 4pm, with an hour for lunch – please bring a packed lunch with you, tea and coffee are available at 25p per cup – with biscuits included.

Or you can complete your work at home if you are taking part via email. You will be invited to send in an image of your completed work following each Workshop. We will share this work with the group, by email. This will allow us to enjoy everyone’s response to the challenge.

Lynne Morgan and Mick Krupa are our leaders and will administer the Workshops. The list of artists has been chosen by last year’s Saturday Workshop group together with Lynne and Mick.

Wednesday Classes normally take place from September to March. Experienced tutors are engaged for a series of three Wednesday Classes and teach on a variety of topics; the classes are £45 for each series. The classes provide a great opportunity for our artists to learn new techniques, push their boundaries into different subjects or media, and be inspired by excellent tutors and their peers.

Our Print Club is a brilliant opportunity to meet and share inspiration with other members on their print making journey, ranging from absolute beginners through to seasoned veterans. We are a group of friendly and supportive people very willing to share our experience and tips to help you produce lovely prints. Print Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month in the day unit at Severn Hospice, Bicton Heath. We have a small stock of Linocut tools and materials so you can “try out” before investing in your own. Our space is situated immediately adjacent to Café Refresh at the Hospice with its excellent local reputation for its food, drinks and service.

Your first session will be free and then if you decided that you like us, the subscription is £7 per session (paid in six-month blocks). See your Focal Points Newsletter for how to join the Print Club.

Workshops and classes are announced via our Focal Points Newsletter. Members are advised to respond early as the classes and workshops tend to be very popular and are often over-subscribed.
