These occasions for our members and their guests offer a lovely way to socialise with other Shropshire artists in a relaxed atmosphere.

Our social events are open to members and their guests, and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Our Summer Social will be held at Bayston Hill Memorial Hall (SY3 0DR) on Saturday 15th August at 6.30 for 7.00pm. There is plenty of parking and access is good.

The evening will feature Alison Utting presenting her one woman show Aggie.

This is the largely unknown story of Dame Agnes Hunt who, despite prevailing social norms and her own disabilities, was instrumental (with Robert Hunt) in the founding of our world class orthopaedic hospital at Gobowen. Alison’s show has received widespread praise and we can look forward to an inspiring evening.

The evening will begin at 6.30 for 7.00pm followed by a finger buffet and coffee. Soft drinks will be served but please bring your own beer, wine… etc etc. Glasses will be available.

‘Shropshire Lass’, Alison Utting, writer, actor, director and public speaker will present Aggie the story of this remarkable woman.

Alison Utting in character

Drawing on Agnes Hunt’s own memoir, Alison will be Aggie as she battles multiple complex disabilities while refusing to let limitations of health or gender define her. Seen as “too young and much too lame” for the nursing profession, she was to go on to found one of the most prestigious hospitals in the world.

Alison’s one-woman shows have drawn widespread acclaim, and she promises to make our social a moving, amusing and fascinating evening.

This event is open to members and their guests at £24 per head.

Please reserve your places by completing the booking form and posting it to the address shown on the form. No emailed forms for this event please.
