On the weekend of 31st August, 1st and 2nd September the Shropshire Art Society held a very special exhibition at Haystacks Barn, Ford House, Ford, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Burbidge. The exhibition aimed to celebrate the contribution to the Society of its late Treasurer Judy Townsend, while raising money for Severn Hospice (where Judy was cared for in the final weeks of her life). The exhibition consisted of a retrospective of Judy’s own work, along with a fabulous gallery of paintings and crafts donated by Shropshire Art Society members.
A packed preview event attended by over 120 people on the Friday evening was opened by Gabrielle Drake (Trustee of Severn Hospice) and Paul Cronin (Chief Executive of Severn Hospice), and the exhibition was open to the public all weekend. A marvellous total of £5000 was raised and will be officially presented to Severn Hospice later in September. The Shropshire Art Society wishes to thank Mr and Mrs Burbidge, Gabrielle Drake, the Severn Hospice team, all Society members who donated pictures for sale, all town businesses who donated raffle prizes, and all who attended and spent their money in aid of such a great cause.
With thanks to Mike White for use of his photographs (the top row of images).
