Summer Sketch Club 2026
Sketch Club meets on a Thursday once a month from April to September. We organise sketch days, primarily outdoors through the spring and summer. The day offers a wonderful opportunity to sketch in the company of other local artists. The sketch days are hosted by renowned local artist Bob Spendlove, who will be on hand to offer his expertise and support. The programme has been planned to provide an interesting variety of subject matter. Our days are friendly, informal and informative.
Who Can Join Sketch Club?
Sketch club is popular with all levels of artist. We have a membership of 50+ and usually have an average of 20 artists attending each of the events. Each venue offers a great opportunity to relax with other artists, sketch, compare notes, share ideas and socialise.
If you are interested in sketching Plein Aire but feel hesitant about sketching in public places, Sketch Club offers a supportive and welcoming environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to sketch with a likeminded group of local artists.
What to Bring?
How much to bring is up to you. I would recommend bringing a foldable chair and a camera/mobile phone. Some artists are happy with a small sketch book a couple of pencils and an eraser. Others may choose to bring a full pochade box with easel canvas and paints. Each of the selected venues has parking quite close to the best subjects, with toilets and cafes nearby.
The cost of Sketch Club this year will be £7.50. Attendance at some venues incurs additional charges such as parking or entry fees.
