Summer social evening

Every year the Shropshire Art Society holds a Summer Social evening for members and their guests with a supper and entertainment. These evenings are a lovely way to socialise with other Shropshire artists in a relaxed atmosphere.

This year’s Summer Social will be on the evening of Friday 16 August at the Trinity Centre in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury.

Mike Griffiths will be illustrating the story behind The Wakeman Look Up Trail in what promises to be an inspirational and not to be missed evening. Tickets are £19 per person to include a Summer Buffet, Summer Punch & Drinks by Sue Roberts Catering.

SAS Summer Social Evening Talk Topic 2019 Wakeman Look-up Trail

This fascinating project was born from an inspirational idea by Mike Griffiths (previously Head of Art at The Wakeman) in celebration of Shrewsbury’s wonderful architecture and heritage. Created by generations of former Wakeman School students, the Trail consists of high quality ceramic installations in place throughout the town and focuses on the detail of the architecture, not only on some of the high profile buildings but also on the less prominent, featuring much of the fascinating detail which is not immediately noticed.
