Summer social evening

Every year the Shropshire Art Society holds a Summer Social evening for members and their guests with a supper and entertainment. These evenings are a lovely way to socialise with other Shropshire artists in a relaxed atmosphere.

Thank you Ben Osborne for being such a great speaker, we had a lovely evening!

“Wild : Life and Land” : A retrospective look at over 40 years of wildlife and landscape photography

Ben Osborne has been a wildlife and landscape photographer for 30 years. He has worked on all seven continents, but he is best known for his images of Antarctica in the book of the BBC series “Life in the Freezer”, work which included photographing the presenter Sir David Attenborough. Since then Ben has worked regularly with BBC film crews, shooting publicity and editorial stills for major wildlife series including “Blue Planet” and “Planet Earth”. In 2007, he was overall winner of “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” and in 2008 his work was recognised by the Royal Photographic Society when he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship. Ben has lived in and has photographed South Shropshire for 30 years and has been involved in a number of local projects including “Curlew Country” and “Heartlands” celebrating the wildlife and landscape of the Shropshire Hills.
