On the last Monday in July, the Shropshire Art Society welcomed the artist Carole Baker RBSA (www.carolebaker.com) to the beautiful The Trinity Centre, Meole Village, to give a painting demonstration to some 50 of our members. It was an immensely enjoyable and inspiring afternoon as Carole generously answered our questions, gave away some of her painting secrets, shared her beautiful sketch books, and made an acrylic painting, over a period of about 2 hours, before our eyes.
Carole explained that she would take the painting away, leave it for a few weeks, and then go back to work on it to the finish. She promised to send us a photo of the painting so that we can see how it turns out. Here is a shot of the painting at the end of the demonstration, and, below it, the finished painting called ‘Little Streamlets Thread’ which has now been sold.
Our thanks must go to Carole herself — it was lovely to host you Carole, to Rob Leckey who organised the event, to all the people who made delicious cakes for the tea break, and to the staff at the hall who were so very helpful and friendly. Our next demo, by the artist Stan Kaminski (www.stankaminski.com) is scheduled for September 19th. We look forward to welcoming him and hope to see lots of our members there.
